Ingrained into my way of life from as early as I can remember is
the “ Montessori Way.” As a living example of a Montessori child,
I am now an adult in my early thirties continuing to pursue my own
unique and individual path: currently in the process of carving
a career as a children’s musician with the launch of my CD for Casa
ages called Emotions. It is thanks to the ‘early programming’ of
the Montessori method as well as a solid sense of family values
that continues to contribute strongly to my personality today.
Each individual is different. With a Montessori education in a recognized
affiliated school, there is definitely a contributing factor to
the development of leadership qualities and independent choice within
each personality. Now in hindsight of my past education at a Montessori
Institute and training as a Montessori Educator, it is evident that
the opportunity to select activities within a prepared environment,
teaches the child to build a foundation for self-sufficiency and
decision-making skills. From these skills develop personalities
that tend to be less fearful of putting their own life programs
into gear.
Once the foundation or infrastructure of a personality
is somewhat established, then the ability to work towards goals
whether they be scientific or arts based seems to take on an extremely
focused path. In my experience, since completing a degree in theatre
and Montessori teacher training, I have developed several companies
relating to educational arts programs for children. Beginning in
my mid-twenties with a very successful musical theatre and drama
company, I have now blossomed into an amalgamation of all of my
skills as an educator, puppeteer and musician. The focus on the
importance of arts in education has been a running theme in my life
for the past decade at least.
In many educational environments, the importance of self-expression
through the arts is not valued as much as math or sciences. However,
the denial of these aspects of the personality or the lack of recognition
for their importance within an educational setting can often lead
to reduced senses of confidence and the inability to communicate
effectively. This is one of the main reasons, I wrote twenty songs
on emotions, titling my CD for children “Emotions”, which gives
the child and teacher or parent an enjoyable approach into defining,
clarifying and recognizing the nature of how we as humans feel.
It is my hope that through music (which some of Canada’s
finest musicians have participated on this CD), each individual
can connect and utilize this CD as a learning tool to discover more
about their emotions.
Thanks to a solid foundation as a Montessori child, a background
as an arts educator with Montessori Teacher Training, I have been
able to develop an age-appropriate learning companion in a CD called
“Emotions” (soon to be accompanied by a book for more productive
learning). I bring my strong leadership skills as an arts educator
by performing this CD in the format of an interactive concert and
puppet show, in the hopes that it will inspire children globally
to become aware of their human potential.
Please check out the web site, which has contact info and CD’s available
for purchase online. Thank you for your support in children’s music
and interest in arts education.
Warmly,
