The
Online International Directory and Census of Montessori
Schools
Has your school entered its up to date information in
our online directory?
If not, you are missing an opportunity
both to reach the tens of thousands of parents around
the world who turn to www.montessori.org for information
about Montessori education and Montessori schools.
Your school can display complete and up-to-the
minute information, and update it any time.
It's free, it's easy, and it helps your
school and all of us in the Montessori community.
How Many Montessori Schools Are There Any Way?
Sadly, after all these years, no one really knows. Few
countries have an accurate directory of all their schools,
and we have little or no information about their enrollments,
age levels, governance, etc.
The Montessori Foundation has launched
an international census of Montessori schools, using
our online school directory.
Our goal is to create one commonly shared
record, accurate and up to date, showing the location,
governance, enrollment and programs offered by Montessori
schools in every state and province around the world.
To do this, we have prepared a central
database in which each school can register to manage
the information that will be shared with parents, researchers
and prospective teachers.
This program is free of charge to any
Montessori school in any country. While it is sponsored
by the Montessori Foundation and its membership organization,
the International Montessori Council, schools are not
required to join to participate.
The information that comes out of the
census will yield:
a. More accurate and complete information
for parents seeking Montessori schools
b. Much more detailed descriptions of
each school's program and facilities (at no cost to
the schools)
c. Hopefully more up to date information
from the schools, since they will be able to update
it themselves securely)
d. and information about enrollment, programs
offered, and average salaries for teachers and other
key positions that will be automatically tabulated into
statistical reports organized by state and by region
(individual school salary information will remain strictly
confidential.
The database and the summarized statistical
information that it yields is shared freely with the
entire Montessori community.
How do I manage my school's online information?
To access the online database, go to
http://montessori.neocodesoftware.com/
The welcome screen offers you 2 choices
Add a new school to the database
You will need to provide your email address and other
personal information to apply to serve as the record
administrator for your school’s online information.
You will also have to pick a unique user name and decide
on a password to use each time you access the database.
Once you enter your information, or enter revisions,
it will not immediately appear online. Our staff will
need to review it to be sure that a hacker is not playing
a prank, and after approval our computer updates the
online list once a day. Generally allow 48 hours for
your changes to appear
.
Become the administrator of an existing school
record
You will need to know the ID number assigned to your
Montessori school by the Montessori Foundation. You
can find this on your mailing label of an individually
mailed issue of Tomorrow’s Child magazine, or
go to our online directory search engine and look up
your school:
http://www.montessori.org/search/SearchUSSchool.htm
NOTE: For school members of the International
Montessori Council: Your School ID number for
this purpose is not the IMC school member number on
your certificate. Those numbers are separate. Enter
the school ID number to begin the process.
You will also need to provide your email address and
some information about yourself to apply to serve as

in some other way, such as an hourly or weekly pay rate.
It is absolutely vital that we have your current and
accurate email address. Please change it in your record
if you ever change email services. Our computer updates
the online list once a day. Generally you should allow

I would like to help! What can I do?
We are gathering volunteers across the United States
and Canada, and in other countries around the world,
who will help us to identify all of the Montessori schools
in their State or Province, confirming the accuracy
of the addresses and contact information on the existing
lists of schools.
Having confirmed the accurate list, our volunteers
are then recruiting additional volunteers to contact
ten schools apiece to persuade them to participate in
the census.
We are seeking volunteers in every state and province
in the United States and Canada, and in each country
around the world |
