Position Overview

The Head of School serves as the chief operating officer of Charlotte Montessori School, overseeing all daily operations and ensuring that the school’s mission, philosophy, and culture are upheld across every aspect of school life. This year-round position requires a leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing administrative responsibilities with hands-on leadership and community engagement.

The Head of School consults with the Executive Director and Owners on major strategic or financial decisions, while independently managing the day-to-day operations with confidence, integrity, and sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the school community with warmth, respect, and transparent communication.
  • Manage all aspects of daily operations, including staffing, program quality, compliance, and parent relations.
  • Mentor and coach teachers — actively improving the quality of instruction, strengthening classroom practice, and fostering professional growth.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Owners on strategic planning, budgeting, and policy decisions.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop exceptional educators who embody Montessori values and professionalism.
  • Foster a culture rooted in kindness, collaboration, and a shared commitment to each child’s growth and independence.
  • Oversee administrative functions including admissions, communication, and professional development.
  • Build trust and engagement with families and the broader Montessori community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or AMS/AMI Montessori credential preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of school leadership or educational administration experience (Montessori experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
    Demonstrated ability to mentor educators and elevate instructional quality.
  • A calm, confident presence that leads with kindness, respect, and accountability.
  • Commitment to long-term engagement and the continued growth of Charlotte Montessori School.

ADOLESCENT GUIDES FOR A NEW AND INNOVATIVE ONLINE MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Bridgemont International School has been developed by internationally renowned Montessorians with decades of experience running Montessori Secondary programs. This new online Montessori school, serving students from 7th through 12th grade, will launch this Fall with an inaugural class of seventh graders.

Bridgemont will add one grade each year through the completion of the high school program. Bridgemont will deliver an authentic Montessori secondary education online using a new model of instruction: a highly interactive blend of live and pre-recorded key lessons, seminars, group projects, and innovative solutions to experiential distance education.
