The Montessori Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Montessori education in the United States and abroad. The Foundation was established in 1992 to create an independent source of assistance, encouragement, and support for the international Montessori community.

The International Montessori Council (IMC) was organized in 1998 under the auspices of the Montessori Foundation to provide an inclusive and affordable professional membership organization for Montessori educators and schools worldwide. As affiliated organizations, the IMC and Montessori Foundation work together to promote high-fidelity Montessori and help address the challenges that schools face.
The IMC offers excellent, practical, supportive professional development, networking, school accreditation, and teacher education.
As a professional membership organization, the IMC believes that Montessori educators and schools are stronger when we collaborate. We encourage our members to participate in other local, state, and national Montessori organizations.
