What do we know about children and learning?

Based on Maria Montessori’s writings, The Importance of Being Little by Erica Christakis, and Washington Post article “What the Modern World has Forgotten About Children and Learning,” Lorna will explore what we really know about best practice with children in the early childhood and elementary years. After more than 100 years of observing and researching, the majority of young children are still being manipulated by test scores, assessments of all kinds, and adults who simply aren’t paying attention to the children in their care. She will pose the important questions that you see in the title of this session.
